SmartCamp Beijing Winner: Instreet

100+ competitive applications, 6 strong finalists, and 2 event-packed days later, we have our SmartCamp Beijing winner! Congratulations to Instreet on becoming the 2012 Beijing SmartCamp champion.

6 finalists and 25 mentors come together for SmartCamp Beijing.

Mentors and finalists tour the Innovation Center.

On day one of the SmartCamp, Aug. 16th, our six talented finalists worked closely with twenty-five experienced mentors who helped them tighten their business models and enhance their pitches. The pressure was on for the second day, with almost two-hundred attendees present including a mix of sponsors, venture capitalists, and angel investors.  The finalists showcased their businesses in a final presentation, and ultimately Instreet was named the winner.

So what is Instreet’s smart solution?Instreet is a contextual Adsense for Image platform very similar to Google AdSense, but specifically designed for picture. With just one line of JavaScript code provided by Instreet website owners can transform their existing static images into interactive content, including ads, microblogs, wiki, audio, video, social Q/A, and social shopping.

Instreet has an intelligent engine to automatically recognize products in pictures, map to a database of hundreds of thousands of products, and tag the picture with ads. So, if you see a pair of sunglasses in a picture you like, you can click on it to see the ad. By transforming the static images into interactive content, Instreet generates extra income for publishers, and creates higher visibility and more actionable results for retailers.

In addition to naming a SmartCamp Beijing winner, finalist iBox Pay was named the People’s Choice Winner after an online vote. iBox Pay is an innovative IT company which provides electronic payment solutions to mobile users. Their product is secure and safe, offering individuals and merchants simple online and offline payment services.

Instreet named winner of SmartCamp Beijing.

Many thanks to all who participated in last week’s Beijing SmartCamp, and congratulations to Instreet and all the finalists. For daily updates of SmartCamp events, follow us on Twitter!
