SmartCamp Mexico City Kickstart: Winner Nuve

After five intense mentoring panels, the companies delivered their final pitches and Nuve was named the winner.

Nuve wins IBM SmartCamp Mexico City

Nuve is a freight solution that monitors the theft of cargo, fuel, tires and batteries. This technology uses sensors to track the activities of transport vehicles in order to identify where and when robberies occur. Furthermore, the alarms can be set to notify the police and the compromised vehicle can be remotely turned off. The Nuve business model, which currently operates in the United States, Mexico and Turkey, is the sale and installation of equipment and the monthly /annual service for tracking and alerts.

This first Mexican SmartCamp had 125 applicants, among which five were selected as finalists. They were selected on the basis of their the projects’ innovation, creativity and correspondence to the IBM Smarter Planet vision. The jury evaluating the five finalists’ presentations was comprised of Rogelio de los Santos (Alta Ventures), Adolfo Babatz (Angel Ventures) and Luis Rodriguez (IBM).

The day was well-received, and Patrick Devlyn, President of Devlyn Optics, had this to say of the event:

“I congratulate you and all other active members of the Smart Event Camp Mexico for your vision, courage and determination. These claims may seem exaggerated. Well, they are not. They are the truth. I know that, because over 35 years I’ve seen similar projects produce extraordinary miracles in the lives of thousands of men and women with ambition and good will.”

Nuve will represent Mexico at the IBM SmartCamp Regional Final in Sao Paulo, Brazil this December.
