SmartCamp Amsterdam Recap: With Winner Poikos

On October 23rd the first-ever Benelux SmartCamp Kickstart for startups took place at the IBM Forum in Amsterdam. Out of many strong applications IBM selected three finalists who were trained and advised during the day by high level cross-industry mentors. The winner of the day was Poikos, with their innovative FlixFit solution.

In the morning during a private session all three Benelux finalists, enerGQ, OmniP Labs and Poikos had 15 minutes to introduce themselves to the entire mentor group. Afterwards all the finalists spent time with the mentors and had a chance to edit their final presentations. After the network lunch the room was open to a broader external audience and the finalists now had only 7 minutes to present their solution to the audience and jury. The jury finally had 15 minutes to discuss privately about the final ranking. While the jury was out, IBM’s Martin Kelly took the stage to introduce alliance partner Startupbootcamp to the audience. Startupbootcamp’s CEO Patrick de Zeeuw explained the importance of platforms like IBM SmartCamp. The judges then returned to announce Poikos as the first winner of Benelux SmartCamp Kickstart. With this achievement, Poikos has entered the EMEA SmartCamp final in Berlin November 13-14.

What is so special about our Benelux SmartCamp winner? Startup Poikos has developed FlixFit, a revolutionary patent-pending technology for imaging and measuring the body in 3D, using consumer devices such as smartphones, tablets and PCs. They are developing a platform for delivery of their technology to partners within the health, bespoke wear, and e-commerce sectors, for a range of new capabilities across all industries. Watch them explain their innovative technology in this video below:
