Meet the Regional Finalists: MoDe

MoDe (Mobile Decisioning Holdings Ltd) is a mobile micro credit firm which provides micro and nano credit products to prepaid customers of mobile telcos and other utilities. They currently have operations in Africa and plan to expand to other emerging markets. MoDe is focused on providing its services to consumers primarily at the bottom of the economic pyramid, where consumers often don’t have convenient access to much-needed credit to pay their utility bills. The company now has almost 60 employees, with a presence in five countries. Its product has already been used by millions across the continent.

MoDe is a Kenyan company but will be representing all of Africa as the only non-Latin-American startup at the SmartCamp Regional Finals next week. They were the winners of the SmartCamp Kickstart event in Cape Town, South Africa in October. If they win they will move on to the Global SmartCamp Finals in New York City this coming February.
